This is the lighthouse that used to be in the pond at the entrance to the Spruces Mobil home park. All that's left now is the island it sat on.

This Light House used to stand in the pond on Rte # 2 in Williamstown at the enterance of the Spruces Mobil Home Park - Its a shame that it was taken down and the pond is now just a swamp.

The Spruces on State Road, Williamstown, MA

When Mr Bachand owned the Spruces he had the pond decorated with this lighthouse. There was also pipes installed under the water which provided a decorative fountain spray This I believe was called the "Whispering Fountains". Cars would be lined up along State Road watching this beautiful spectacle. I guess it stopped for fear of an auto accident, being on a state highway and all.

In addition to the Lighthouse there used to be a large sailboat on the pond. I remember it from the 1940's and 1950's. In the 1950's my father was manager of the Wigwam at the top of the trail. Francis A. Hiser, Jr., U.S. Navy (Ret)

The Spruces...Al died last week. I remember him selling motorcycles when I was a little girl. I never realized what a interesting person he was till I read about him in his obit.

Ah yes, Dad would pop up a big batch of popcorn, pile all of the kids in the car, and head for Willimastown. We always got there early, and the wait until it was dark enough for the display to start was almost unbearable. Dancing fountains in a rainbow of colors.....to a kid it was no less than spectacular!

Al Bachand was a hard working entrepreneur. His knowledge and physical abilities were second to none and his imagination was unique.From property management, motor cycle business to the Spruces with much in between including his training in hypnosis with Russell Lanoue. He also befriended many people in a good way.

AL BACHAND LATER ADDED AN ARCH AND A BOAT. HE HAD GREAT FORESIGHT AND A GREAT EYE FOR ARTISTIC DECORATIVE SCENES. HE WAS ALSO A GREAT ENTREPENEUR, WAY AHEAD OF HIS TIMES. I RECALL WHEN HE MANAGED APPARTMENTS, HAD A MOTORCYCLE DISTRIBUTORSHIP, WAS APUBLIC SPEAKER W/ RUSSELL LANOU. A MAN OF MANY HATS AND QUITE A GENTLEMAN AT THAT. HE WOULD FILL MANY PAGES IF A BOOK AND DOCUMETORY WAS EVER DONE OF HIM. I WAS A CLASSMATE OF HIS WIFE. J. P. D. FLA.
