Looking at the cars it looks like it may have been late '70s. It must have been spring or summer. I'm assuming it must have been sometime in the spring because 87 degrees must have been during an unusual hot spell.

I believe that it's 1977. If you look at the sign on the Mohawk Theater, It looks like Star Wars, which was released on Memorial Day weekend 1977

I honestly can't understand how you could assume that it was in the spring. THE TREES ARE IN FULL BLOOM!!!! It was just a hot July or August day. And what do you know? The bench isn't loaded with "kids". The bench is providing restful shade for some elderly people!

If I'm not mistaken, that's Joe Fulginetti, first on the bench.
