Posted: 05/23/2001 Comments... The real reason for the urban renewal? Many buildings were rat infested, outdated building standards that could not be brought up to code. Some buildings may have been firetraps, but rats could have been eliminated...WHY WAS A WHOLE BLOCK OR MORE TORN DOWN?
