Sad time when urban renewal got here. To many wonderful structures were torn down. The Hoiday Inn is on this site now.

The real reason for the urban renewal? Many buildings were rat infested, outdated building standards that could not be brought up to code. As well as many building were fire traps waiting for the opportunity.

Some buildings may have been firetraps, but rats could have been eliminated...WHY WAS A WHOLE BLOCK OR MORE TORN DOWN? I will never figure out why a certain group approved this...Todaym 2010, that space is still an ugly eye sore with no rhyme or reason. SAD!

I moved from North Adams in October of 1964. No buildings had been torn down then. It has to be the late 60s.
