Their house was physically moved from the parking lot in back of "Zayres" up to Barth when construction of the dept. store started. They had a nice big yard which all the neighborhood kids played football, baseball ect on. They also always had the best treats in town come Holloween.

Can you name the location?
Barth Street in front of their home

Comments...
During Urban Renewal this house was moved from its location on Lincoln Street. It still had the Lincoln St. number on it and also the Coughlin name since the house once belonged to their grandfather, James Coughlin. Many remember this home being moved (it was the only house in that whole area which was not torn down. Remember the delay on Eagle Street because the wires were in the way? Isn't it amazing that a house that large could be moved up the Eagle street hill and then on to Barth Street? Periodically the Transcript would reprint photos of this momentous event.

I remember the Daley sisters, they were always helping the priests...and doing good things for the catholic community. I would have loved seeing the house being moved, but missed it... I am so happy they saved something from the "OLD" North Adams!
