I lived (Two family owned by Mr.Lefabver, the Huey Taylor family upstairs(immagine if you can, 14 children in one house, 2 appartmts 7 rooms each). The Netherwood family across the street, the Leah Lloyd Johnmson family next to the Netherwoods on the top of Kemp Ave. hill, the Doran family just down the hill, the Bill Damon ,police officer and his oldest son became Boy Scout Leader in Washington Dc. as a child and this hoto location was referred to as" Martin Beach" because Sam Martin a roofer who lived at the intersection of Kemp Ave. and Bradley Sts.This was also the lakeoverflow. The main beach at the time was "Lefabvers Beach". That is where huge crowds always gathered because he had a store, play area, a small dance pavillion, horshoe courts, golf driving(golfball attached to a chain and a concrete weight. Mr. Archie Lefavber also sold Holy Statues at the time and had rental cabins and rented wooden row boats. I also recal when my Uncle Emile Dubreuil had huge swings "carnival type" on the beach and rides were .05cents. My Uncle Adrien had a ferris wheel at Pontoosac Lake in Pittsfield. Many, many fond memories of the times. Sorry about craming so much in, but, the juices were flowing.
