Comments...
Police officers were different in those days. They knew families in the city and took the time to help the people in the community. They had hearts.

Comments...
3rd from right looks like Bill Duffy. He was a great guy and always helpful. The old timers walked the beat and we got to know them as they did us. Good times. He always stopped by Saulnirs market at 9 Eagle St. He and Bill Saulnier were good friends.

THIS WAS THE "WALK THE BEAT ERA" AND MOST ALL OFFICERS WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. tHIS WAS THE ERA WHEN POLICEMEN WERE RESPECTED AND CONSIDERED FRIENDS BY ALL. THERE WERE NOT MANY SO-CALLED CRUISERS. WE KNEW THE POLICE AND THEY KNEW US. THERE WERE MORE RESPECTED AND HONNEST COPS IN THOSE DAYS. HOW ABOUT OFFICER MICHEALJOHN (NOT SURE OF THE SPELLING) DAYMON, AND SO MANY OTHERS.

Comments...
Fourth from the left (and right) looks like it could be Officer Wally LeFleur. Also, I can't help but wonder who wrote the previous comment in CAPS. They mention Officer Thomas Meiklejohn - he and his wife were my neighbors when I was a kid in the 1970's. I remember how nice they were and the incredible flower garden they had. They were both well into their 90's back then and it makes me wonder who would still be around that remembers him from the NAPD.
