I'm sure he's covering his tomato plants to protect them from a frost, but from a distance you could mistake it for a Ku Klux Klan gathering.

The man in the photo is my Grandfather. Yes he is covering his tomato plants. I am sure he is anticipating a frost. My Grandmother, Carmela always had a beautiful garden that everyone could view as they drove by on State Street. Not only did she grow vegetables but always kept beautiful flowers on the property. I am the oldest Grandaughter, Jeannie Preite-Reynolds. Although my Grandparents are both deceased now and there is no more garden there; the memory remains alive in our hearts. Where once there grew flowers; children now play and grow.

My sister sums up this photo in her comments right on the nose. It brings back many wonderful memories of not only our grandfather, John Mangano, but our grandmother, Carmela also. Not only are they remember by many who walk by their home, but their gardens are remembered also, even though they are no longer there. My grandparents both remain deeply in our hearts, they are dearly missed but are in our thoughts always. Julie Preite-Ryan
